Can You Wash Car with Fairy Liquid?

Fairy liquid can wash utensils due to the degreasing effect, removes stains from carpets, and wipes dirty tables. However, using this for cars can damage the paint’s protective layer.

Can You Wash Car with Fairy Liquid? You should not wash your car with fairy liquid because it damages the protective wax, causes corrosion due to internal salt, and cracks the paint coating with alkaline properties. Also, it provides insufficient cleaning and generates smears on the car windshield.

It dissolves and removes water-based color coatings from the car’s surface. Its built-in chemicals react with metallic parts and cause corrosion.

Why should you not use fairy liquid to wash a car?

Commercial car cleaners are available with their anti-stain properties and compatibility with paint. However, avoid the fairy liquid on your vehicles due to the following reasons.

Damage to the protective layer

Wax is a protective layer over the car’s paint to repel the effects of environmental conditions. Also, it repels dirt particles and protects the pigment from fading, and disperses the mold.

It can preserve the color without surface damage. Furthermore, it repels moisture and rain droplets to protect the metallic parts from rusting.

After every six weeks, you can strip off the wax material from the paint, clean the surface and apply the protective layer. However, fairy liquid is a degreaser and removes the wax from the exterior.

It is effective against oils and other adhesive materials. Cooking oil and protective wax have similar properties because they melt at a specific temperature.

Due to such properties, the liquid cleaner removes the polish, wax material, and color from automobiles.

They fade the paint by reducing the overall appearance of the automobile. As a result, automobile experts never suggest these cleaners for newly painted vehicles.

Corrosion due to salt

The cleaning agent comprises a high amount of table salt to promote its performance. However, its alkaline properties are dangerous for the metallic frame of cars.

Over time, the alkaline liquid weakens the metallic parts and tears them. This is because metal has a specific response to water-dissolved salt due to its chemical nature.

The salt-based cleaner oxidizes the pigment and damages it in different portions. However, the cleaner contains sodium chloride, which has electrolytic properties.

It can wet and damage the metallic parts of the frame. Due to its penetration, a thick layer of rust accumulates over these parts. They crack and damage due to a thick coat of salt over them.

Due to the constant contact of metal and an oxidizer, the metal degrades with time. As a result, the damaged and vulnerable parts can fall due to continuous cracking.

Due to rusting, the appearance and design of the frame change. In addition, it loses its structural layout due to several surface damages. However, the degradation time varies according to the quality of the metal and its composition.

Cracking of paint

Fairy liquid contains bleach and ammonia to remove the stains from the carpets and furniture. Several people mix ammonia with water for cleaning.

The cleaner can remove dye stains from different surfaces due to its anti-stain property. But, it is dangerous for the coloring of a car.

With its dissolving effect, it can crack portions of paint. Ammonia evaporates in 4 to 5 seconds after its application on any surface.

The excessive application of the ammonia-based cleaner causes damage to the color. Moreover, it contains a high amount of bleach as a main ingredient.

The undiluted bleach cracks the protective layer on the paint. It fades the paint, which falls in the form of patches.

Due to these drawbacks, you cannot spray the liquid on the car’s exterior without mixing it with multiple gallons of water.

Insufficient cleaning property

It cannot properly clean the exterior of a car due to its foamy effect. Instead, you require plenty of water to remove the fluid from the surface.

Due to its low performance, the cleaning procedure consumes multiple hours. In addition, you cannot wipe the non-dissolved liquid properly from the edges and closed corners.

It settles in the sides of the windows and doors. As a result, a chemical reaction happens between the parts of the frame and the cleaner.

The significant drawback of the cleaner is rusting of the different parts. The cars have specific commercial cleaning agents that can remove dirt particles and road salt without corroding the frame.

Smear formation on the glass surface

You cannot use it on the windshield and rear window glass of different automobiles. Also, it damages the blades of windshield wipers by penetrating underneath them.

Its accumulation produces rust under the blades. As a result, they cannot move in any direction on the windshield glass surface.

Moreover, it dries the rubber of seals around the windows and windshield. The reduction of adhesive material cracks the seals and damages the window glass.

It contains surfactants that can stick to glass and ceramics. As a result, it blurs the overall appearance of these surfaces.

You cannot apply it to the transparent glass of the windshield because it produces a considerable mess. Despite wiping, it leaves patches and massive marks on the glass.

Smear formation reduces the visibility of the driver and other travelers. Furthermore, it results in sudden accidents and incorrect control over the steering system.

How can you wash a car with fairy liquid?

Several people consider it a remarkable cleaner for their dirty cars. However, you can never use it with its maximum strength. Therefore, I have explained a comprehensive method to apply it over the doors, external walls, roofs, windows, and windshields of automobiles.

Use a plastic bucket and fill it with one to two gallons of water. Then, add one drop of fairy liquid to the bucket. Mix it with water until it forms bubbles.

Then, splash the solution over the walls and windows of the vehicle. Next, wipe the surface with a fiber-free piece of cloth.

Remove the moisture from the exterior of your automobile and leave it for natural drying. Then, use artificial ways to dry the enclosed edges and sides of the vehicles.

An excessive amount of liquid is not advisable because it produces sticky foam. Also, you can apply the water-dissolved commercial cleaner by filling it in a plastic bottle.

Then, carefully spray it on the dirty parts, and reduce the chances of rusting on the metallic parts. For the spray methods, fill a bottle with fresh and clean water.

Add a half drop of fairy liquid to the bottle, shake it for around 3 to 4 minutes, and make bubbles. With a spray nozzle, you can prevent the penetration of liquid under of blades of windshield wipers.
