A USB charger is a charger of the motorcycle’s battery with 2.1 amperes, a manually controlled switch to maintain the battery power. It is resistant to electrical surges and heat due to built-in polarized indicators.

Why would a USB charger drain the motorcycle battery?

A faulty connection between the motorcycle battery and charger results in drainage. Due to the following reasons, it removes the energy from the power hub.

Absence of switch connection

You cannot connect the charger to the battery of your motorcycle directly. However, the USB ports of the bikes have vulnerable plastic covers which cannot withstand vibrations and high-temperature conditions. 

In such circumstances, the middle relay absorbs the shocks and vibrational effects. Furthermore, it can reduce the effects of heat on the ports. 

It is necessary for stabilizing the continuous flow of current from the factory-installed passages. With the relays, the power cannot flow through the charger and system when the motorcycle is not on ignition. 

However, a few people attach their batteries directly to the charging equipment. The ports are incompatible with these circuits. 

Due to its absence, the system does not turn off when the rider turns off the ignition. Eventually, the battery undergoes high battery drainage at a slow rate.

Attachment of multiple accessories

They can charge the batteries of a motorcycle by regaining the lost energy. However, you cannot attach multiple gadgets to one circuit. 

You cannot put the charger, headlights, and other amenities in one configuration. In such circumstances, it drains the battery quickly.

Moreover, you cannot connect the electric connections of lamps and indicators with a similar configuration. In such circumstances, it draws current from the equipment. 

With the configuration, the port supplies current to different gadgets. However, it draws a moderate amount of the current.

Over time, the collective current becomes higher than the charged levels. 

Leakage of current

The insulated cords cannot store the current due to excessive leakage of amperes. An additional use for this equipment makes the wires vulnerable. 

They cannot withstand the internal surges of the equipment. In such circumstances, they lose their protective insulation.

Leakage of the current from the wires results in a malfunctioning system. It leads to the drainage of energy from the source of energy. 

Due to long-term utilization, high temperature produces excessive levels of heat. As a result, it can damage the wires and their insulation.

USB charger works efficiently to restore the energy for the bike’s battery. But, the leakage of current disturbs the entire circuit. 

Duration of connection

You can use them to charge the batteries of your motorcycles during running conditions.

You cannot leave the system on for a prolonged period because it leads to drainage. Moreover, the charging equipment requires a resting phase to regain the factory-installed qualities to withstand continuous electric flow.

It cannot remove the current at a high pace during the off conditions. This is because the vulnerable USB ports cannot handle the excessive energy load.

For a long time, they cannot synchronize with the power hub of the motorcycle. So, initially, they take one to two amperes at the slowest rate.

With time, the removal rate slightly increases from the standard level and can deplete the battery.

Attachment in non-running engine

The USB chargers draw a minute amount of energy from the batteries when you connect them to a working system. Furthermore, they provide adequate performance when you connect them to a working engine. 

It can charge the equipment when the bike’s engine runs at the standard rotations per minute (RPM). But they malfunction when you put them in a non-working circuit. 

In such circumstances, the engine of the motorcycle does not run. Also, it does not get enough energy from the system. 

In these conditions, the charger starts drawing energy from the power hub. It happens when you keep the charger plugged into the system. 

The energized and plugged charger can draw power in the conditions.

Complicated circuits

The non-complicated circuits are feasible to attach a charger with the electricity hub of the bike. You can use insulated wires to connect both systems without energy loss. 

You do not require complicated circuits with multiple relays and electric wires. For the installation, you can connect it to the working ignition feeder of a motorcycle.

The complexity of the power circuit generates excessive heat inside the system. As a result, it affects the performance of the ignition system and reduces combustion. 

You can convert the 12-volt battery to the ignition feeder with a few modifications.

How to use a USB charger without draining the motorcycle battery?

For installation, keep the circuit straight and use one relay. Avoid the adjustment of different gadgets in one alignment. 

To minimize power drainage, install a USB charger through the following method. A few motorbikes lack mounting hubs to adjust the charging equipment.

In such conditions, you can install USB sockets on the frame. However, the socket requires enough space for mounting.

Handlebars are one of the most famous mounting spots for these sockets. You can use a clamp to fix the socket with the handlebar.

However, they can lose due to excessive vibrations. Select the area under the seat with a precise angle on the engine for secure connections.

In such settings, the wires can approach the battery without a challenge. To restrict the drainage, hold the socket’s terminals and attach them with the non-vital components.

Never directly attach them with the positive and negative terminals of your bike’s power equipment. Non-vital parts include the horn and license plate. 

Use wire connectors for these attachments and secure the power. Hold the red cord of the socket and attach it to the cable of the license plate. 

The lever connectors are beneficial for stabilizing the connection between them. You can remove the license plate and examine the connectors to find the cord. 

Then, attach the cords and middle switch underneath the bike’s seat and move them across the handlebars. The mounting procedure varies slightly according to the design and frame of the motorcycles. 

Follow the factory-installed passage of wires under the saddle and handlebars. Leave a specific space at the handlebars to avoid the sudden cracking of the cords. 

After connecting the electric wires, adjust the docket with a clamp. Moreover, you can adjust the USB charger with a built-in switch on the handlebar through an adhesive material.
